Preventive Maintenance
Why Cars Need "Preventive Maintenance" ?
Manufacturers know that a properly maintained engine will be more dependable, safer, last longer, and increase your satisfaction with their product. Regular maintenance helps accomplish these goals by keeping your engine running efficiently and eliminating potential problems that may leave you stranded.
What's in it for you?
A more dependable car. A car that retains the "new car feel". Less chance of a costly breakdown and a safer car for you and your family, doing your part for cleaner air, and a car worth more at trade in.
Lube, Oil and Filter Changes
We will replace your engine oil with dependable Castrol Oil and an Oil Filter at the optimal 3000-mile interval. At the same time, we will lube your vehicle's chassis according to your vehicle's specifications. Radiator and/or Transmission Flush and Fill We will flush and refill your vehicle's cooling system according to your vehicle's maintenance schedule. We offer automatic and manual transmission fluid flush and refill using high quality transmission fluid.
Batteries
If you are experiencing difficulty starting your vehicle, allow one of our technicians to perform a computerized battery starting/charging test. The results of this test will show how well your battery is performing. If you need a new battery, we'll replace it with a Interstate Battery. Your vehicle will perform better right from the start.
Belts
Serpentine belts, also known as drive belts, provide power to the air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, cooling fan, air injection pump, and more.
If your serpentine belt breaks, all of the engine parts it is powering will stop working. Your engine could overheat and be damaged. It’s very important to have your serpentine belt inspected by Lewisville Muffler & Brake.
Lewisville Muffler & Brake technician look for cracks, wear, and stripping—all signs your serpentine belt is in danger of failing. Like the timing belt, it’s recommended to have your serpentine belt inspected every time you have your oil changed.
Hoses
Coolant hoses include the upper radiator hose, the lower radiator hose, heater hoses and in some cars the bypass hose.
Hoses provide a flexible connection for coolant flow between the engine and the radiator and the engine and the heating block.
Lewisville Muffler & Brake technician recommends you have your vehicle hoses—and accompanying clamps—inspected twice a year. Tiny cracks can form from the inside that can eventually lead to a burst hose and overheated engine.

Wiper Blades
No job is too small and Lewisville Muffler & Brake technician will inspect your wipers for free. We’ll check your wiper blades for hardness, cuts, splits, or any other damage that may prevent your windshield wipers from performing properly. Our automotive experts will repair anything wrong or, if necessary, provide various sizes of wipers for most makes and models for replacement, including winter wiper blades.
Worn wiper blades are not only annoying -- they are dangerous. Most driving decisions are based on a clear and unobstructed view of the road. A dirty or worn wiper will cause streaking and smearing on your windshield at times when vision is of the utmost importance.
Better fuel economy
The bottom line is efficient, dependable and cost-effective service for you. Our ASE Certified technicians are top notch and will help keep your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently. We use state-of-the-art equipment and quality parts. Stop by at Lewisville Muffler & Brake and ask for a Free manufacturer’s maintenance schedule specific to your vehicle. For your convenience, we would also be happy to mail you a maintenance schedule as well. Just fill out the contact form on the website with your vehicles year, make, model and current mileage.
Always consult your owner's manual for individual service schedules because maintenance requirements vary by manufacturer.
Always consult your owner's manual, but a good rule of thumb is to have the oil filter changed regularly - every 3,000 to 4,000 miles .Have all fluids checked, including brake, power steering, transmission/transaxle, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze. These fluids play a large role in the safety and performance of the vehicle. Check tire inflation. Under-inflated tires can result in a loss of fuel efficiency. This is the least expensive form of preventive and safety maintenance. Tires should be checked once a month. Keep your engine tuned. A fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector can reduce fuel efficiency by as much as 30 percent. Have the chassis lubricated frequently. This step extends the life of the moving components of the vehicle's suspension system. Check battery cables and posts for corrosion and clean them as needed. The battery fluid also should be checked and filled if it is low, unless it is a maintenance-free battery. Have the lighting system checked frequently, including headlights, turn signals, and brake and taillights. Check windshield washer blades for cracks, tears and windshield contact. Replace them at least once a year, or sooner if streaking begins. Inspect engine belts regularly. Worn belts will affect the engine performance. Look for cracks and missing sections or segments.
Have the air filtration system checked frequently. The air filter should be checked every other oil change for clogging or damage. This system ensures that the vehicle is performing at its peak condition.
